Good point! The number of advances, yours included, has been great in the last year or so compared to the previous decade! Time to write a new summary!

Indeed a great summary of such an exciting topic! I guess it would already be time to have an end-of-the-year-2011 summary, considering how much more insight we have already gained within one year into the functional role of neurogenesis in buffering stress responses and improving pattern separation!

Very interesting, so I wonder if reduced neurogenesis is in part due to reduced BDNF? Also, since this is functional neurogenesis, from a pragmatic point of view, what can be done to increase neurogenesis in adults?

Excellent post. This subject is one that needs to be talked about more and awareness of it made known. Thanks again.

A very nice and well written summary, indeed.
Loved the bit with “Top drool-producing papers in the field of adult neurogenesis.”
